[or-roots] Trip to Oregon

I was able to get a copy of my g.grandfathers naturalization papers but not his death cert. I think he had to become a citizen inorder to purchase land. Also, in Wilsonville, there is a middle school, Inza R. Wood Middle School and Aunt Inza is my great Aunt. So, we plan on visiting the school. John Nelson Wood was her father-in-law.

I have contacted the town Historian and gave him some information and hopefully he can help me. My sister and I want to find the old Wood homestead. All in all, it will be fun to see the land and area that our ancestors lived in. John N. Wood moved his family to Oregon from Nova Scotia. Over in Nova Scotia, they have some information on him but I need help in Oregon to match him up with Woods over there.

Sherry

Make sure you swing by the State Archives in Salem:

John N Woods, filed for naturalization in Clackamas County,

See Clackamas county vol. 1 page 003 and vol. 1 page 146.

Also, Pleasant Hill cemetery is in between Wilsonville and Sherwood.

If you get a chance stop by Wilsonville's city hall and see if you can get
an interview with the Mayor, she is related to the Grahams of Graham's ferry.

The Clackamas County courthouse in Oregon City is also helpful and could help you with
land records to find out when his property was sold and to whom.

Good luck,

Vicki
Great Great Granddaughter of
Charles Wilson founder of Wilsonville
