I attented Arleta grammar school, fall of
1939, just at the time they changed from
the old Indian Head Nickle to Jefferson.
Had a teacher there that had taught my
mother. I was staying with my maternal
grandparents who reside on SE. 68th Ave.
I recall the the street car came out Foster
Road and near about 70th turned. It's path was on the way to the Bob White
Theater on Foster. On this side street
was a large hardware store. In the window was a stuffed two headed fawn.
I recall everyone had something to buy
at Foster and 82nd Ave at old Piggly
Wiggly store and shopping center.
The veteran's hospital was on 82nd and
you would see the veterans of the Civil
War in their blue and grey uniforms.

I went to Cleveland High School. I lived at 28th near Alberta St. Since I graduated from Fairview Grade School (4 rooms and large auditorium) I could either go to school in Portland or Gresham.
