Let us know which recipe you try and if it is as you remembered it..  The one from http://bbonline.com/tx/montgomery/recipe1.html (Historical Inn of Montgomery) sounded more like the one you described.

      Ok, I've been reading all your comments and I've got to bring the conversation into the late 60's. I was raised in Kelso, Washington and we would come to Portland on Saturday nights and cruise "Yaws" looking for Jesuit boys! If you want to talk about food, how about Yaws "Chess Pie".  I've spent 32 years of marriage looking for that recipe because it was my husband's favorite. They never gave it up.

        A slice of pineapple,  a scoop of cottage cheese on that with a little 
        shredded cheddar on top.  Not from Pendleton, but was born there.  Live 
        20 miles east in Weston.
