Interesting that you bring women into the issue, the family legend is that
our ultimate American Melvin was the son of the last of the line in
Fifeshire, being his mother, and the reason he had the name Melvin was that
she had the land and her husband was an Englishman (I surmise some kind of
military man) so she kept her name and passed it on to her children.
As soon as Readers Digest comes through with that sweepstakes money I intend
to go chase this legene down.
