  Subject: [or-roots] What I meant by Data Base

  Jim;

  All of our emails/queries/inane babble; is stored are Or-roots, as far as I know, you can access this info by googling it and will be led directly to whatever google points you to, but it USED to be that google would point you there, but when you actually tried to access it you were informed that in order to receive that information you were required to become a member of the list. I guess that was to try and keep out spammers or some such, anyway I am pretty sure that was the way it was when I signed on. As I say I am pretty sure that isn't required now, but since I am a member I can't prove it.

  Anywy that was why a lot of folks ended up on the list, they were trying to get some info and didn't understand that what they were signing up for included having to put up with us gabby OR-roots genealogist untill they unsubscribed. I didn't look at the "wrong way to unsubscribe" page that close but suspect somewhere it probably still says that. The disadvantage of the database is that any time somebody send and email with html in it, the database stores that as text, so if you get something you may have to wade through a lot of chaff to find the message. I was going to google some of the stuff we have been talking lately for an example, but can't come up with a search that gets me there???

  Will be posting one thing I stumbled across in seperate post, be prepared for flogging of dead horse.

    Hi Les
    My curiosity was piqued by your words "in order to access the database". I'm obviously missing something. What data base?
