Actually, her name was Lucintha Jane Stillwell Horner Deford. She had
another husband after Samuel and I think his name was Harris. She
became a widow of his also. I have wondered if she poisoned them and
planted them in the garden since I have never been able to find a grave
for Samuel Deford. Lucretia would have fit her personality better. I
have a picture of her and Samuel and she is one tough looking cookie.
Her first husband did better by getting a divorce. He eventually
remarried and had 8 children.
Lucintha made certain that her children inherited all the properties she
amassed and the Deford kids got nothing.

Vol 1 page 056 12/31/1895 census Marion County, Lucretia Ford
I do not know if there was a statewide census in 1895 but this
information
that I forwarded you earlier from the State Archives was for an 1895
Marion
County census and had a Lucretia Ford that I thought might possibly be
your
Lucretia DeFord.
