On Highway 97, just south of The Dalles is a place called DeMoss  Springs.  
It isn't
really a town, but it was named for the DeMoss Family who came to Oregon  in
1864.  DeMoss Springs is a park just north of Moro.  There is a  picnic area, 
a
bandstand where the DeMoss Family Bards initially performed, restrooms,  etc.
A grant has been given by the State of Oregon to re-build the bandstand  and
create new facilities.  This will be finished sometime in 2008.   We are 
hoping that
all the DeMoss families all over America will come to this reunion.   It has 
not been
held for several years because of the condition of the park, but in earlier  
days a
DeMoss family reunion attracted more than 200 members.  We hope that  there
will be a huge turnout when the park is renovated.
