A while back there was some discussion on the line between Lane County and
Benton County and the town of Junction City. I have always known that the
Junction City Post Office covered a fairly large area, but in going over a death
certificate, I came up with a new area that the Junction City P. O. covered
(at least new to me).

The person died in 1940 at his residence with an address of Rt. 3, Junction
City, Benton Co., OR. On the line for Street, it says Irish Bend Community.
The Irish Bend area is south of Corvallis but north of Monroe and definitely
north of Junction City. The funeral home used was from Junction City, and
he is buried in what is now known Rest Lawn Memorial in the Junction City area
 in Lane County.

Guess I should be careful in adding Lane County to all Junction City
entries.

Barbara,
This is correct. For quite a lot of years, the Rural Route 3 out of the
Junction City
Post Office has delivered to a large area north of Junction City. (I am
thinking that
some time back, Monroe did not do Rural Routes, but maybe I'm wrong. There
was
also Star Route M, which delivered mail north out of Junction City and then
picked
up mail at Monroe and delivered north from there.

Confusing isn't it? And I'm sure it was even more so earlier when there were
fewer
households.
