I found a helpful site http://library.state.or.us/home/orind/  that I'd 
forgotten about (and seems to have moved from what I had noted years ago).

This site indexes some of the newspapers for Oregon and includes obituaries. 
It is just an index to point you to things but some might find it useful. 
It is not current (covering 2005-2006) but it still might be helpful.

The Oregon Index is a selective index to Oregon newspapers, and to Oregon 
items in selected other publications. The database does not contain 
full-text information.
