I'm not so sure about that, Bob.  After all, British royalty have been  
intermarrying for generations and look how they have evolved! :)
 
Actually, there are a few genetic disorders that increase in occurrence  when 
there is a pattern of intermarriage.  Many are relatively  benign...such as 
dyslexia; left-handedness; male and female hair loss.   Others are more 
problematic.  Most resulting from the increased odds of  inheriting recessive genes 
from both parents.
