Karen;

Have you seen this?

2-17-1932 E.W. Schrock, Veteran of Civil War Succumbs - Death separated the
oldest wedded couple in Coos county when E.W. Schrock passed away at 3:30
this morning at his home on Fourth street. Mr. and Mrs. Schrock had been
married 65 years, celebrating their anniversary Jan. 23 of this year.

The couple had never been separated since their marriage in Iowa in 867,
until two weeks ago when Mrs. Schrock was taken to Wesley hospital. From
that time, Mr. Schrock began to fail in health. Mrs. Schrock is also very
ill at her home today.

Mr. Schrock was 89 years of age, and would have celebrated his 90th birthday
in April. He was born April 17, 1842. He was one of the few survirors of the
Civil war, being a member of Baker Post of the Grand Army of the Republic in
Marshfield. He fought in the battle of Bull Run, was in the Civil war for
three years, participating in the battle of Philippi, Laurel Hill, Carrick's
Ford, Green Briar, Shiloh, Lookout Mountain and Mission Reidge, and march
with Sherman to the sea.

Mr. and Mrs. Schrock came to Marshfield in 1903, where they resided since
that time. There are two sons, Harry and William, both of this city.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist church in this city. The body is
at Thuerwachter Funeral home, where funeral arrangements will be made by the
Sons and Daughters of Veterans.

2-18-1932 Schrock Rites to be Sunday - The funeral of E. W. who died
Wednesday morning, will be held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday from the Thuerwachter
Funeral home under the suspices of the G.A.R. with the Sons and Daughters of
Veterans putting on the ritualistic work. Sons of Veterans will act as pall
bearers. Interment will be at Sunset cemetery. The Rev. L.C. Kirby will open
services, followed by the G.A.R. services. With the passing of Mr. Schrock,
only six comrades of the Civil war are now living in this city. Baker post
of the Grand Army of the Republic boasted 25 members at the time of its
inception.

Mrs. Schrock, who has been seriously ill, is reported to be improved today
at her home on Fourth street.

Mrs. Schrock had been very ill and the shock of her husband's death hastened
her own death.

A double funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the
Thuerwachter funeral home, under the suspices of the Sons and Daughters of
Veterans, with interment at Sunset cemetery.

2-20-1932 Schrock Funeral Sunday Afternoon - The Sons and Daughters of
Veterans will be in charge of funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Schrock, when a double funeral will be held for the couple at 2:30 o'clock

Sunset cemetary.

IF you haven't been there, you will want to check this site out, there is a
lot more about them, by the way it is Marshfield not Marchfield, and if you
are looking for it on the map it is now called Coos Bay. I can probably find
the cemetery and get pictures of the stones if you are interested. It might
take me awhile though,it's a whole thirty miles after all. Actually the way
things are right now that's not too funny, we have been haveing to deal with
a lot of closed highways.
