is a link to online USGS map of the general area of the Land Claim, too bad
if it's not still in the family, it is pretty prime real estate, just on the
edge of development in SW Eugene, of course it is also in one of the most
contentious areas of said development. I am not sure what they mean by the
numbers, but it appears from the "LOT 2 OR SENW QUARTER" statements that
what he had was 160 acres in the center of the section, plus a forty
attached to the Northeast quarter of the 160 acres, another words if you
draw a 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile square in the middle of the section and attach a
quarter mile by quarter mile square to the upper right side of it you would
have his homestead. The boundries of the section are a little vague in the
map on the link above, but roughly the "modesto" written vertically up to
the right of the image is "about" where the fifth forty would attach to the
half mile square which would run from there over to the west of the little
but above the 19 and then down to the tan line that comes up from the bottom
and turns left about mid screen. That tan lne incidentally is the boundry of
the Arbuckle DLC. I hope this helps.
