[or-roots] Springfield cemetery

Barbara is correct and I should have known better, but proving it is
difficult with the name confusion and as far as I can recall (pause for
sniggering about my claiming to have a memory) I can't recall ever hearing
the one where the greats are buried as anything but Laurel Hill, so I stand
corrected.

a full transcription of the names there [Laurel GROVE] can be found at;

http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/or/lane/cemeteries/laurelhillindx.txt

this is the cemetery located near Glenwood, sandwiched between I-5, the
Glenwood exit, Franklin Blvd-old Coke bottling plant (don't recall what that
is now but am pretty sure Coke no longer owns it) and Glenwood transfer Sta.

Unfortunately the link I provided last night was for the other one [Laurel
Hill], but lacking in any grave info, the link Barbara provided and mine are
for the same cemetery, but sad to say I didn't recognize it for a different
one since the description of the cemetery in Springfield could just as well
describe the one in Glenwood except the latter is a larger one.

USGS place the Springield Cemetery right at the edge of town, I was
expecting it to be further south. The location they give puts it in the
block bounded by B & C streets N. and S. and 4th and 3rd St east and West,
but the description on the web site leads me to suspect it is actually on
the other side of 4th St.

Sorry about the confusion, this apology applies to both last nights email
and this one if this still leaves anyone confused

The link provided by Sue below to the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in
Springfield is not the same cemetery commonly known for years as Laurel
Hill. It's official name is Laurel Grove. It is in the Glenwood area
between Eugene and Springfield on Laurel Hill St/Road.
