I use vitalsearch-ca.com all the time for my California research. You can
search for no cost if you want. And I have searched a few of the other
states they have available.
I have found what I needed at the free level. You can become a premium
member, but I don't know what extras that gives you.
I have never been bumped into Ancestry.com.
I suggest you try it before you pay for the premium level. I mute my
computer because I hate the audio ads that run.
