Have you met Sandra Crittenden at the Burns Library, she is a Oregon
Historian, have been working with her for a couple of years trying to
find info on my Great Grandfather, for whose Cattle Brand the Diamond
area is named, his name was Albert H. Robie and his partner was Mace
McCoy they had 43,600 acres of the Malhuer before Pete French, my Great
grandfather was selling out to him when he died.

>> No, I haven't met her; I'm a "transplant" here, been here only 7
years now. My grandma moved over here in 1964 and moved in with a
gentleman way down south Harney County in Catlow Valley that I
considered my grandpa. He was a transplant too; only here since just
before WWII and then after the war. He was quite a character, life long
bachelor, parents from Prussia, he was born in MA and was quite the
buckaroo around here. Worked for the P Ranch before the war.

The Diamond area is beautiful -- wish I could live there! They are in
kind of a banana belt compared to where we are! The name Robie sounds
familiar -- are there still some Robie's around here?

I am over that way to see Sandra at times and also Hunting.

>> Ah yes, hunting! Deer, elk, antelope or ? We do all of the above
and then some. Nice to be able to drive 10 minutes to our hunting area
now ...

... while I'm here (on digest), might as well reply to this one too!

Did you know the Eddy family, Eunice and Roy? Eunice was my father's =
sister.

No, I don't know the Eddy family. I don't see them in the Burns phone
book but there are several Eddy families in the John Day area.
