[or-roots] Riddle me this

I stumbled across that Idaho search page a few months back and fired a
question about a person I found there off to my little sister to see if it
was a relation of her hubby, she finally got around to reading my email this
week and answered in the affirmative. With that info I went back to that
site and google her in-laws and found ALL sorts of info, and a mystery;

I find his great grand dad and spouse and first two children in Michigan
Ottawa Co. Wright Twp	1870

In 1880 I find;

Now comes the mystery in 1900 colorado EL PASO  5-WD COLORADO SPRINGS

Now there are two problems with this, first of all Jay is born in 1875
according to 1880 Census, and born in Michigan, now assuming minor error and
their surviving two children (notice she lists 7 children, two living) are
Guy and Clyde we would be good except for one little fact, in 1910 we find

 IDaho  ADA  SOUTH BOISE

Matthews	Guy E 	40	18 	Michigan
		Alice 	34	18 	New York
		Claud Earl	16		Kansas
		Stanley e	14		Kansas
		Newton L	12		New York
		Guy A		10		Colorado

Now in fact I have a birth date of 12 April 1900 For Guy A.

Obviously the family group I list above in 1900 must not be Guy E and
parents and surviving sibs, or unless Guy E was living a double life, hiding
a family from mom and pop?

But try as I might, I can't find Guy anywhere else, nor another Stephen, nor
any sign of any of the rest of them anywhere in 1900.

is where I get a lot of confirmation of the above birth dates and familial
relationships, but they are real light on death dates, so I was wondering if
anyone out there has any access to Colorado vital records or death index and
might be able to at least let me know what happened to Stephen and Marietta,
though admittedly I am guessing about their demise even being in Colorado,
these folks seem to be real fiddle footed, some day will have to ask my bro
why he didn't keep up the family tradition, heck I bet they haven't moved
four times in fifty years!
