I was surprised to find the research materials of Ruth Smith on my family in
the family file at the Del Norte museum, it is something to think about when
these folks are looking for the materials; Mildretta may have intended to
return the materials and they are packaged somewhere in a form that isn't
obvious or she may have turned them over to a museum who placed the
materials in a "to be processed" that never got processed. I was surprised
when the museum said the memo I gave them citing errors of fact in the
information in one of my family files they had on hand would have to be
"evaluated" to determine if they wanted it in the folder or not. I guess
that is today's world, we are in the process of formalizing Aunt Nells
"Chapman Museum" and one of the big headaches is determining province of a
lot of her "stuff." Sometimes the method or reason of acquistion is more
important than the "value" of the item. She has a lot of "common place"
objects with no clue why they are in her museum; maybe they belonged to
someone that gives them relevanc and maybe she just thought they looked good
on that wall space?? Dummy us we didn't get it all sorted out in time,
though in fact a LOT of time was put into trying, but she had way toooo much
stuff.
Keep us posted of your progress Glen, it is always sad when old photos
disappear.
