Marcus;

I know there are some resources;

http://www.circushistory.org/

would be a place to start, googling "circus history" netted over half a
million hits and I am sure there are more of them that are relevant. I think
the key would be figuring out which circus(es) she worked with and under
what name. I don't recall ever running across a circus trouple in a census,
but maybe I didn't notice or some such. I would suspect as vagabonds they
might not show up in the census very often. Oh, wait I didn't read
carefully. Okay, Soc Sec index has one Emily, 14 Emma and one Emmadell
Minton but none of them have a 1904 or 1906 birth date. There are three
Emily and 8 Emma Pagano's and one of the Emmas is born 16 June 1904, but
considering the vagueness of 1904 or 1906 I would say between the Paganos
and Mintons there about ten possibles in Soc Sec. Again assuming either name
is what she died as.

Can you give us any more details; like their parents names, following the
Census trail till she ran away might provide some clues.

Subject: [or-roots] Circus Genealogy???

Hello everyone,

Here is a question you may not have heard before. Are there any sources out
their to find out about ancestors who may have been in the Circus?

I received a letter from a cousin who remembers an aunt who "ran away and
joined the circus". Her name was Emily (Emma?) Pagano. Her parents were
Salvatore and Mariana (Annie) Pagano. She was born in San Francisco in
either 1904 or 1906, depending on the source. I have an obituary of her
brother, Joseph Frank Pagano (26 Dec 1895-12 Jun 1961) that has her with a
married name of Emily Minton.

Has anyone ever tried to find ancestors who ran away and joined the Circus?
Thanks in advance for your help.
