Babe - Wasn't it you that wanted to know more about the old town of Mineral,
Idaho?
Maybe you could get this book on Inter-Library Loan. I found quite a few
references to Mineral in the index, and the photos are not indexed. The book:
SAINTS, SINNERS AND SNAKE RIVER SECRETS, by Lillian Cummings Densley,
Copyright 1987, Second Printing - 1990. The ISBN is 0-9623748-0-6 and it was
published by THE RECORD-COURIER PRINTERS; BAKER, OREGON 97814. I bought this book
at a nice book store in Baker years ago. They've changed the towns name to
Baker City now.
I didn't find your Pickler name in the index. I did find lots of names
under pictures that were not in the index and I haven't checked all of them.
There's a 1929 picture of the Mineral School facing page 29. If your family
lived down by the Snake River, I'm sure you'd enjoy this book! Mrs. Densley
also illustrated the book with Melvin Whitney's charming original artwork.
Those were really rugged folks who lived in that desolate part of Oregon and
Idaho! This book has a handdrawn and labled map that will show you where Mineral
was and where the people in the book lived at that time. Our friend Melvin
Whitney, wrote in this book: "When Brownlee Dam went in, it put most of the
ranchers out of business....."
