I got too sleepy to look these up last night (actually just plain forgot)
but I thought a short excerpt might be of interest to the list;

on Vol OR-D0016; page 403:

Commenced Aug 13th 1854 Daniel Christians Claim no. 72 in Township 17 & no.
47 inT. 18 S. in Secs. 31 & 6 Notification no _______
Containing 84.75 acres in c. N: 72 & 124.31 Acres in c.n: 47

[I am going to skip the survey stuff that is just numbers and so forth, but
it starts starts from about right fielder's position on what looks like YMCA
plan "B" baseball field and goes West]

page 404
3.17 [apx 200ft] An Ash Swail W. & S. [this is a topography call, often
very important in restablishing the survey]

[SW cor c 47] Deposited a Stone 5 X 9 in (?) raised Mound with Trench As Per
Instructions. [Can't say for sure, but am betting a building sits on that
point now, what are the odds the stone is still there? From there the next
interesting call (page 405) is the point where the line of survey crosses
the minor summit of College hill.]

54.50 An Ash Swail [these two calls are appx where Amazon creek runs into
and out of the claims]

83.49 Set Post for NW corner of C. 72 & corner in angle of C. 73 [Charnel
Mulligan claim (is that where Charnelton st gets it's name?)]
in Sec 31 On South boundary of Town Plat of Eugene City --- Deposited
One Pint of charcoal & raised Mound with Trench as Per Instructions.
      D.R. Christians House bears S 60 degrees E
page 406
[East on N line of 72]
18.21 SE corner of DMations(sp?) Town Plat Center of the Public Square bears
N. 45 degrees W.

page 408
