I was at an very old cemetery many years ago in Columbia Co., WA. where my pioneer families went - lived & died, Walla Walla/Dayton, WA. & area. I remember seeing a very old grave & the name Gallaher on a headstone. I forgot the first name. It was at Smith Hollow or Covello Cemetery?. The cemetery was not taken care of it's up a a small hill where the farmer was plowing all around the hill & even getting into the graves - closer & closer. We walked up to the graves from the road & it was out in the middle of no where. I can't find that name at Smith Hollow & Covello online, darn. Next time I'm up that way I will go there & take more pictures.

*Don't forget to check out Columbia County for your family graves that went that direction. You never know where they ended up in the end. Nancy

Like Denise, I have had Oregon families go to Whitman Co., WA, but I also have some that were there a little earlier than that. Some stayed; some came on to Oregon. If you are doing Whitman Co., WA research, be sure that you take a look at the Washington Digital Archives: http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Default.aspx Barbara Herring ----- Original Message ----- From: "Denise Sproed" To: "or-roots mail list" Sent: Tuesday, May 19, 2009 8:13:59 PM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: [or-roots] Whitman County, Washington I have noticed that quite a number of my "Oregon" families migrated up into Whitman County (1880's-1900's). It is interesting to see the migration patterns for time periods.
