[or-roots] Finding ancestors in Revolutionary and Civil War

Just to clarify, being a Quaker did not prevent a lot of men (and women)
from being recognized as Patriots by the DAR and SAR. I have a Quaker
Patriot from North Carolina who supplied flour to the Continental Army
and is therefore deemed a Patriot by the DAR.

Maybe -- were your ancestors landed in this country before either event?
Were they males between 15 and 50 years of age? Were they not Friends
or Quakers? Perhaps then they were soldiers in those wars.

Google gives a number of hits if you fill in their search line with the
above Subject. Also see the FamilySearch and Cyndi'sList websites for
more hints, but the first step is knowing who your ancestors were, and
when they were where. The SAR and DAR are also good references.

Godspeed!
