  Hello

I think that a great idea. Where exactly is the location of the Oregon State Archives, is it Salem?

Also I am researching the Pickler family who lived in the Portland area between 1900 and 1940.

I recently found the grave of Barbara Pickler in eastern Oregon who died in Portland in 1968 at the age of 16. I am trying to find out who her parents were. I can guess but I would like proof. Is it possible to get her death certificate since I may be only a cousin?

You might want to make a trip to the Oregon State Archives and check their records. You will want to look at the records that OGS looked at to get their information.

Have you tried writing to the Penitentiary to inquire about any records they may have? You might be surprised!

        Hello

My great grandfather, James Theordore Robbins was sent to prison in 1896. In the book, "Oregon State Penitentiary" records of inmates Prepared by Oregon Genealogical Society, Eugene Oregon, indicates he was charged with rape from Union County on 6/12/1896; convicted and sentenced to 35 years. I can't find any information concerning what happened to him. He left four children to be raised by his wife's parent. She died in 1887. The following information is all I have found.

        Oregon Historical Records

        Case# 3681

        Name Robbins, James

        Date 6/12/1896

        Record Type Inmate

        County Union

        Source Penitentiary

I would like to know if he died in Penitentiary or if he was released and on what date. Any information would much appreciated.

        Respectfully

        Babe Fain
