Wondered any one might know who this AR Leabo might be out of forest grove.

BIOGRAPHY:                  Surname: BOWEN, GARRISH, HINMAN, LEABO

BIOGRAPHY:      Hon. Alanson Hinman, who died Monday afternoon, July20th, was
born in New York
     state May 2nd, 1822, having passed his 86th birthday on the 2nd oflast
May. In 1844
     he came across the plains and settled in Walla Walla where Dr.Whitman
had just
     established the college now known as Whitman college. Mr. Hinmantaught
in the
     school there for about a year after which he came to Salem and spent
several years in
     eductional work in what is now known as Willamette University. Laterhe
came to
     Forest Grove and has made his home here for more than 50 years. In1866
he was a
     member of the Legislature from this County and soon after wasappointed
collector of
     customs at Astoria where he made his home for about 4 years.Returning to
Forest
     Grove he established a store which he conducted for a number ofyears,
retiring from
     business in 1890. Mr. Hinman married Miss Martha Garrish in 1846,eight
children
     were born to them, four of whom are living; Mrs. A.R. Leabo, Dr.Alanson
Hinman,
     Miss Mary Hinman, all of Forest Grove and Oliver Hinman, ofEllensburg,
     Washington, the oldest son, Arvid Hinman, having grown to manhoodand
died in
     1892. Mrs. Hinman died in 1864 and some time later Mr. Hinmanmarried
Sophia
     Margaret Bowen to whom two sons were born, Carl Hinman and FrankHinman,
both
     of Forest Grove.

BIOGRAPHY:      Mr. Hinman was the last of the original Board ofDirectors of
Pacific University, being
     a member at the time of the granting of the charter to theUniversity in
1854. For a
     number of years he was President of the Board, having retired fromactive
service of
     that office about two years ago.

BIOGRAPHY:      He was twice elected Mayor of the city of Forest Groveand for
many years was one
     of the prominent figues in political and financial circles.

BIOGRAPHY:      A proclamation was issued by Mayor Laughlin that business
houses close from 10 a.a.
     to 12 m. on Wednesday, July 22nd. The funeral services were held at10
o'clock
     Wednesday forenoon at the First Congregational church, Rev. DanielStaver
in charge,
     assisted by Rev. Herbert Boyd and President W.N. Ferrin. Mrs. W.W.
McEldowney
     sang "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and "Bye and Bye". Interment was atthe
Buxton
     cemetery.

BIOGRAPHY:      In the loss of Mr. Hinman Forest Grove loses a brilliant
thinker and a man who has
     contributed much toward the advancement and betterment of the city.
