[or-roots] familysearch.org and filters

David;
my experience with Family search filters is pretty spotty; I find about half the time if I specify I only want "exact match" for a term, I get no such record even though when I have 4 thousand matches I see one on the first page that has the very name I am seeking.
I do think they are getting better though as I seem to be having better luck with it this week.
I have much better luck filtering by time frame to narrow it down. Ironically last night I was searching a non Oregon guy I had snuck some help from the list for a few years back, Family search gives me 3079 hits if I search him unfiltered and only 9 if I specify his exact given name, two of which are actually the guy I want. If I filter by spouse given name I get no matches even though her given name is listed in their index entry for the 1870 Census. Apparently the filter doesn't recognize any relationship for that Census?
I am certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth even though at times it is frustrating New Family search now convinces me I will never finish the details on the people already in my family file, let alone get all the individuals members of my key surnames I would like to find.

Go to specific database you want.
you will see "add a life event: Any | Birth | Marriage | Residence | Death
and
"Add a relationship: Spouse | Parents"
What's surprising about these is that you can add filters, all or
selective. Better than Ancestry's own convulted search terms.
