Most of these books are available online for download or online viewing in pdf form at http://books.google.com/

There are so several other sites that have free books for download.  If you don’t find them at google books try doing an internet search for the title of the book + free and see what pops up.  Other than that most research facilities probably have copies including the Oregon State Library in Salem, Oregon Genealogical Forum in Portland, Multnomah County Library.  If your library doesn’t have it they can probably get it on interlibrary loan for you.
