That is really so sad – I don’t know why people are not respectful of others property. There are a number of cemeteries that have had significant damage in the last couple years. There is one in Lafayette, Oregon that has quite a number of broken tombstones from vandalism.

Subject: [or-roots] Historic Old Vancouver City (Wa.) Cemetery

Hello Oregon Rooters

Many of you have probably seen the news on tv or read in the paper about

the vandalism at the Historic Old Vancouver (Washington) City Cemetery

this cemetery was estabished in 1867 but he deaths of some of those reinterred

go back to 1825, many old pioneers from early Washington and Oregon are interred here.

The Clark County Genealogical Society has spent the last two years and nearly $14,000.00 dollars

in Grant money restoring this cemetery, most of that work has been undone by this vandalism.

The Vancouver City Police say they do not have the time nor resources to investigate this

Crime and are asking for the public's help.

Glen Jones Portland, Oregon rooter and Past officer of the

Clark County Genealogical Society
