Grr!!  Can't type today - or should do a better job of proof reading.  The title should be:

Pioneer Families of Oregon:

           Richardson

Brown - Hinton - Inman

The full title of the book might help all, too.  It is:

Pioneer Families of Oregon:

           Richardson

Brown - Hinton - Richardson

My copy is the 2nd edition, printed in 1969 so I am not sure if the 1st edition title is different or not.  I also think that it was a private printing intended primarily for family.  As Linda as indicated, coming up with good titles is always a challenge.

You are so right Linda and I apologize to the family of the Author if I seemed to be implying otherwise, I was merely amused that I who consider myself some what of a student of Oregon history didn't see but one name in the list I had heard of.

I am sure this book was never meant for public consumption and if I had known someone on the list would have a connection to it I would have been more circumspect about offering to share it. I can only hope to be forgiven for my sins.

I know about titling things; I stole my suggested title for my "life story"  from Bill Cosby.

This book, "Pioneers of Oregon" was never meant to be a complete study of all pioneers of Oregon. This is the Oregon Pioneers of just one family - descendants of Daniel Richardson and allied families. Each of us with Oregon ancestors could write a book about our "Pioneers of Oregon" -- and each would be different.

>From experience I know that it is very hard to title a book so the title is meaningful to the author and family, and is meaningful to a greater audience, and how will it be indexed and shelved in a library. When you begin to think of all those aspects, writing the book is the easy part.

Just my two cents . . .  .
