Now it's time for me to get down to business with my search to benefit my grandchildren. My grandmothers parents and uncle are buried at Belle Passe in Woodburn. My great grandparents are John Beach and Martha Lasira Noble Beach. Martha's paternal line traces back to Thomas Noble in mid 1600's in Massachusets. (Martha,Caleb, Thomas Jr., Thomas Sr.,} I've not done so well with the Beach family who came here from Michigan. Both John and his brother Amos fought in Custer's Cavalry regiment in the Civil War. Amos was taken prisoner and John was wounded. I've recently learned that Amos was the first constable in Woodburn, in fact there is an article about him on the web page of the Woodburn police chief. I've just now found the following article about Amos through Genealogy Bank, that gives some very exciting details about his military service. Here's where I need help on this line. My great-grandaughter, an 8th grader at Butte Creek (honor roll student if I may brag) is currently studying the Civil War, including the battles mentioned below. She would like to take a copy of this article to her teacher, but for the life of me I can't get it to copy! Can any one help? Also Amos had several children. His son George was the first City Recorder. If anyone has knowledge of any of this family and descendants I would dearly love help in locating them. My grandmother, Jessie May Beach Austin, was an only child, so no where to go there. Thank you for any help you can give me. Arlene Robinson (I may have to send the article in a separate e-mail. I find a couple that I have entered as husband and wife. I bring up a child to make a minor addition like add a date of death. When I bring up the child, I lose the links to the parents. Instead, I get ?[Unknown spouse] & [Unknown spouse]?. If I go back and bring up the parents, the new data is displayed for the child. If I now bring up the child I get the ?Unknown?s? for the parents. If I attempt to merge the known and unknown parent I get the message that I cannot merge since there is already a direct relationship between the two individuals. Anybody know what I?m doing wrong? I have inadvertently gotten a child not attached correctly. Have you checked your people list to make sure the child is not listed twice and one of them is unattached. If so, you could then merge the 2 children making sure it was the one attached to the parents. I had a problem such as this but cannot remember the names so can't go back and check out the solution. Or you could totally unattach and delete the child and then redo it. That's all I can suggest at this time. Over the years I have developed a network of ?goto? people with an expertise in a particular area.? If I can gather them all in one place and add more we will all benefit from it.? Anyone with an interest in joining in the discussions is welcome to join.? It is a public forum.? When you join in please tell what families you are researching and or what organization you are with.? If you are involved with a historical society or library let us know which one.? The idea is to provide resources, contacts, see what projects are going on so they are not duplicated and link family researchers. Most of the people involved will probably not have time to provide actual research.? I will use the page to to list updates that I make to the oregonpioneers.com website and will answer questions. ? https://www.facebook.com/#!/OregonPioneers ? ?
