A study was recently done and Heritage Tourism is the number one reason 

people visited Oregon. 

The study was commissioned by the Oregon Heritage Commission.

Motels, museums, libraries, restaurants, tourist traps, etc that can be 
used. 

At least Oklahoma is exploiting genealogy for tourism. So is Ireland.

from the FGS for that approach.
