Folks,

I posted something about the upcoming Blue Book and their search for images related to the history of rural schools and education for the color insert. My colleague, the editor of the Blue Book, thought the list might also be interested in the following information as well.

regards,

Layne

The days of a print-version Oregon Blue Book may be numbered. The current edition, the 2013-2014 Oregon Blue Book was the first one printed as a limited release edition, a severely reduced print run making fewer than 3,500 copies available for sale to the general public. At this time, 1,700 books remain. Selling these remaining books will improve the chances of sustaining the Oregon Blue Book through future editions.

What is the Oregon Blue Book? It's Oregon's official fact book and almanac published every two years since 1911 by the Secretary of State's office. Compiled and produced by the State Archives since 1998, the Blue Book is Oregon's preeminent civics book, containing everything you ever wanted to know about Oregon's economy, state history, executive, legislative & judicial branches, election history, public education, all 242 cities and 36 counties, and financing government in Oregon. The Almanac section lists facts about Oregon's nine federally recognized Indian tribes, physical dimensions, bridges, Oregon's Olympic medal winners and big trees, renewable energy plants, Oregon's state symbols and so much more!

The on-line Oregon Blue Book is continually updated and contains links to Oregon's arts, heritage, cultural, governmental and educational entities.

The income generated by the sale of the print-version Blue Book funds both its production and the production and maintenance of the on-line Blue Book.
