Subject: [Or-srp] Report summer reading statistics by 9/29

Please report your library's 2017 summer reading statistics by filling out this online survey<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2017srpStats> by Friday, September 29, 2017.

What do you need to know?

* The online survey must be completed in one sitting. I've attached a copy of the online survey you can use to collect the data you need before you sit down to fill it out online.

* This survey tool does not include a good printing option. In November, your statistics<http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/youthsvcs/srp.certificates/2016SRPStatistics.pdf> will be posted on the State Library's summer reading webpage<http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/Pages/youthsvcs/summerreading/oregonsummerreadingstatistics.aspx> so you can access them. If that won't work for you, you'll need to print each page of the survey as you go along.

* Report the statistics that match the summer reading activities you implement. All public libraries may implement the summer reading program however they want. Skip the questions on the survey that don't apply to your summer reading program.

* Each library may identify one staff person who will be subscribed to the summer reading listserv, a low-traffic email discussion list-this person will be your library's summer reading key contact. The summer reading key contact receives essential summer reading information, typically tasks like: submit your library's statistics, order your library's summer reading manual, or order free passes for the State Fair to use as summer reading prizes. The summer reading key contact doesn't have to do all the work, they just have to make sure the tasks get done by someone at their library and make sure important information gets shared with the appropriate people at their library. If you don't identify a summer reading key contact, then whomever fills out this survey will become the summer reading key contact for your library.

* The questions in the attached survey are very repetitive! That's because it's a "print" version of an electronic survey. When you take the survey online you shouldn't be asked all of these questions so it shouldn't seem repetitive. The online survey has what are called dependencies. If you answer a particular question one way you get one set of follow-up questions, if you answer that question a different way you get a different set of follow-up questions. The attached survey includes all possible dependency questions.

* I will use the statistics you provide via this online survey to create reports-one for the Oregon legislature, like the 2016 Summer Reading Brief<http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/youthsvcs/srp.certificates/2016SRPBrief.pdf>, and one for the national Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). These reports are used to tell our funders how we spent their money and give them good reasons to keep funding summer reading in Oregon! Many of you use State General Funds via the Ready to Read Grant program to pay for your summer reading program and the State Library uses Library Services and Technology Act funds from IMLS to pay for your library's Collaborative Summer Library Program membership dues, purchase summer reading manuals for you, and to fund other statewide summer reading work State Library staff do.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Katie
