[OR_Archaeology] position advertisement for State Archaeologist in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources located in Richmond is
actively recruiting for a State Archaeologist to provide statewide
leadership  to promote archaeology and archaeological issues throughout
the Commonwealth by providing statewide focus and coordination for
agency archaeological programs.  The State Archaeologist will serve as
the agency liaison with the archaeological community and assist the
agency Director by coordinating, overseeing, and carrying out the
provisions of the Virginia Antiquities Act. Responsibilities will
include promoting Virginia archaeology to localities, public agencies,
and private organizations, stressing the role of archaeological studies
and preservation as part of the local comprehensive planning.  Promoting
the use of archaeology in the classroom through partnerships with the
Department of Education, COVA, ASV, the Virginia Historical Society, the
APVA, other state agencies, and other appropriate partner organizations.
