HIKE TO CASCADIA CAVE & ROCK ART PROJECT

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 10AM - 2PM

WHAT:  A 2 mile (round trip) easy hike to see the Cascadia Rock Shelter and Rock Art that the Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS) is documenting. The site contains numerous pictographs and petroglyphs of bear paws and geometric images in a very unique setting! There will be an informal tour of the site at the same time OAS volunteers are recording it with project director, Dr. Jim Keyser.  Bring your lunch, camera if you wish, and appropriate gear for the weather.   

WHO:  Tony Farque, USFS Archaeologist, will lead the tour.  Tony has given many lively tours to this special site and is an expert on it. Join Tony on this OAS event which is offered as part of Oregon Archaeology Celebration, which happens every October. WHERE:  The hike leaves from Cascadia State Park on US 20, 14 miles east of Sweet Home. Sweet Home is approximately 95 miles south of Portland.  Directions will be given to participants.

HOW:  Reservations are needed for the 25 participant tour. Reserve your spot with a suggested donation of $5. to OAS (for their rock art research).
