[OR_Archaeology] Rock Art Exhibit opens Feb 13 in Bend

" Rock Art Perspectives: Pictographs and Petroglyphs" opens Feb. 13 at the High Desert Museum, Bend. 

The exhibition brings together archaeologists, photographers and Native American artists who explore the beauty and significance of early Native American art carvings and paintings in the Columbia plateau, Great Basin and across America. Rock art includes pictographs, which are drawings on stone using crushed berries, red ochre and other natural materials. Petroglyphs are images carved in stone. Artists include Lillian Pitt, Melissa Melero, Harry Fonseca and photographers David Muench, Michael Frye and Alain Briot.
