The Anthropology Department at Portland State University presents the
*Archaeology First Thursday Lecture Series* for the 2009/2010 academic year

Please join us *Thursday, October 1st at 4 p.m.* in Room 41 of PSU's Cramer
Hall (1721 SW Broadway, 97201) for "My Archaeology Summer", ten minute
presentations from five PSU archaeologists featuring:

*Bill Cornett* talks about being down and out at Paisley Caves.

*Alex Stevenson* discusses current WSDOT cultural resource practices in
light of past problems.

*Paul Solimano* examines the relationship between prehistoric artifacts and
the landscape for a recent linear project in Eastern Oregon.

*Emily Shepard* talks about her internship with the Center for American
Archeology in Kampsville, Illinois.

*Dr. Virginia Butler* highlights some of the archaeological sites she
visited while on sabbatical in Europe, including her hike to see where Otzi,
the Ice Man was buried by a glacier along the Italian-Austrian border.

Don't forget to mark your calenders for upcoming First Thursdays as well.
Speakers this fall include:

November 5th:* * *Dr. Thomas Barrret *(ICF Jones & Stokes) will discuss his
work on the remote sensing of African American quarters and graves in the
Mid Atlantic.

December 3rd: * Dr. Julie Stein* (University of Washington) will be
presenting her research with Amanda Taylor and Stephanie Jolivette on shell
middens and prehistoric coastal settlement patterns in the San Juan Islands,
Washington.
