Here's a great opportunity for career development and advancement in Central Oregon as the Forest Heritage Program Lead and Tribal Liaison for the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and the Crooked River National Grassland. The duty station is Bend, Oregon, which despite the Great Recession is still a great place to live and now housing is more affordable than it has been for years. The forests and grassland cover several counties and range from eastern slopes of the Oregon Cascades, to the High Desert and Blue Mountains to the east. The heritage resources are diverse and high profile with high public involvement and lots of
recreation use and outdoor activities. There are three main tribal governments and their staff, elders and general population to interact with, and active volunteer organizations, such as the Archaeological Society of Central Oregon, to work with as partners, along with several local historic societies and museums.

The forests are looking for a strong subject matter expert, but people skills, supervision, partnerships and leadership are very important as well. So please pass along and turn in your outreach forms (If you are interested in this position, please complete this form and email to Bob Deane (bdeane at fs.fed.us).

Forms may also be mailed to Bob Deane, Deschutes National Forest, 1001 SW Emkay Drive, Bend, Oregon 97702, or FAXED to 541-383-5531, attn: Bob Deane)
