2010 ARCHAEOLOGY FOR THE CURIOUS (OAS BASIC TRAINING) CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE
Are you looking to learn more about Archaeology basics, or do you need a refresher on the history of the Pacific Northwest? The Oregon Archaeological Society is proud to once again offer its annual series of Training classes. OAS Basic Training, also known as Archaeology for the Curious, is taught by experienced regional professionals from organizations such as the National Forest Service, BLM, and the University of Oregon. The sessions will be held on six Saturdays from late January through mid March 2010 at the Rock Creek Campus of Portland Community College in Building 7 Room 121. Topics for the first two sessions include archaeology basics as well as information on artifacts, laws and ethics, Northwest archaeology and rock art, site stewardship and volunteering. The cost is just $25 for both sessions.

For those who want to dig further into archaeology, four additional training classes in field excavation and laboratory methods, site mapping, cataloging and compass reading will be held. Because class size is limited forthe last four sessions, please reserve early. The entire six-session package is $90 and includes a one-year OAS membership, or $60 for current members.
