Schedule to be worked: Generally Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Description of Essential Duties (Purpose or Objective of Job):
Overall responsibility for the overall management of the Nebraska Highway Archeology Program and staff. Act as a liaison with the Department of Roads and NSHS. Primary responsibility including planning and overseeing all archeological reviews of potential construction sites ensuring the reviews are conducted timely and in compliance with Federal and state regulations and within restricted budget limitations; Present findings to NDOR and NSHS officials; Negotiate review findings with the public, complies and prepares necessary data for reporting within compliance regulations. Develop and revise policies and procedures as related and supervise multiple Archeological curators and staff in multiple locations. Ensure all objects, artifacts and other cultural evidence found is protected preserved or disposed in accordance with appropriate laws and procedures; Prepares and oversees program budget and oversees contractual agreements. Develop and provide educational programs to the general public through meetings, writings, lectures, and other activities on the subject of Nebraska archeology
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements: Masters Degree in Anthropology or Archeology with experience in both prehistoric Plains archeology and historic archeology and one year of supervisory experience; five years experience in cultural resource management and three years archeological field experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that would enable an individual to possess the required knowledge skills, and abilities.
