Archaeologist GS-193-11
Gifford Pinchot National Forest
Mt. Adams Ranger District

The advertisement for this position was posted this morning on the USAJOBS

The incumbent serves as the planning team archaeologist for the southern
portion of Gifford Pinchot National Forest, including Mt. Adams Ranger
District and Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. The duty
station is the Mt. Adams Ranger Station, in beautiful Trout Lake,
Washington, located on the east slope of the Cascade Range approximately
25 miles north of the city of White Salmon. Archaeological and historic
resources within the two land management units include a wide range of
pre-contact and historic period site types, from lithic scatters to lumber

culturally-modified cedar trees in the nation, huckleberry processing
sites, associated cultural landscapes, and traditional cultural
properties. Trout Lake is a small, diverse rural community of about 500,
recognized for its organic dairy and herb farms and plentiful
