During the last 8 years, I have seen the amazing work being done to historical accuracy with the skills taught by the faculty of the City Historian, ranging from an aquaduct from 1524 and 17th century buildings to classic Art Deco homes. I have numerous photos, if anyone wants examples.
The Trade Route
• The recuperation of skilled trades, so necessary to the country today, is well underway in the historic district of Havana

STRONG, youthful hands have accomplished much in the preservation of Old Havana’s historic district with skills related to the restoration of buildings within this World Heritage Site.
With skillful handiwork, the Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos workshop school is miraculously returning this ancient section of the Cuban capital to the beauty that time, lack of resources, and inattention nearly destroyed.
In response to the needs of the City Historian’s office, the workshop school has for twenty years trained carpenters, electricians, plumbers, gardeners, glass workers, woodworkers, painters, mural restorers, bricklayers, archaeological technicians, and other specialists.
