I saw this announcement posted on one of our local SCUBA diving club's
website and thought archaeologists in the Salem area would be interested
in attending, learning about what information local divers are getting
about artifacts and artifact collecting from submerged sites, and
participating in the discussion:

"Who owns what's under the water, and what should we do with it? This is
a controversial subject amongst historians, archeologists,
environmentalists, and regular ol' divers. Regardless, understanding the
history and current situation of these types of activity is important
for divers, whether you are for or against. We welcome all interested in
this topic to join us for an entertaining guest speaker tonight at Blue
Element in Salem, OR. Stories, artifacts, and discussion will abound.

Talkin' Treasure Part II with Special Guest Barry Dunford

Wednesday December 14 6:30 PM

Blue Element Scuba

5008 Commercial St. SE

Salem, OR

Barry Dunford, PADI's Northwest Regional Manager, will be returning as
the guest speaker at Blue Element Scuba on Wednesday December 14th.

Barry spent 6 years treasure hunting in the Bahamas and Caribbean
working for Dennis Standefer, Mel Fisher and eventually owning his own
treasure hunting company. Barry will bring a sampling of artifacts and
tall tales to entertain.

For anyone that has met Barry, you know he is a great guy and very
entertaining especially when he is talking about something he loves.
His experiences hunting treasure have given him a plethora of stories
that he will share with us. Come join us for this special presentation
given by one of the truly "good guys" in the diving industry.

If you joined us for Barry's first talk on treasure hunting, he is going
to be picking up where he left off and sharing even more stories about
his time as professional treasure hunter. If you missed the first
event, you do not want to miss this! Barry is an entertaining speaker,
and the stories he has to share are incredible and fascinating. We are
thrilled to have him returning to share his experiences with us!"
