Job Title: Historic Preservation Specialist
Job Code/Level: U14C/Level III
Pay Band/Hiring Range: L $2,919.33 - $4,865.58

Key Duties:
● Coordinates the Review and Compliance Program and evaluates
federal undertakings for impact on cultural resources in accordance with
federal laws, regulations, and standards and established division
procedures.
● Develops scopes of work for archeological survey and
archeological site National Register Nominations and reviews the results
of such projects.
● Performs on-site monitoring of cultural resources for the
Oklahoma Historical Society, other state agencies, federal agencies, and
organizations as appropriate.
● Reviews technical reports, scopes of work, and other documents
concerning cultural resources for the Society and other agencies.
● Performs field and archival research, develops historic
contexts, and prepares and reviews National Register of Historic Places
nominations and other documentation of cultural resources.
● Develops and presents workshops and other public education
programs on federal laws, regulations and standards concerning the
treatment of cultural resources.
● Supervises special projects for the identification and study of
significant cultural resources.
Education and Experience Requirements: requirements at this level
consist of a master’s degree in anthropology, archeology,
architectural history, art history, historic preservation, history or a
closely related academic area and three years of experience in related
research, project administration or management; or a bachelor’s degree
in architecture with four years of professional experience in historic
preservation or restoration projects.
Selective Qualification: The candidate must have at least a master's
degree in archeology
anthropology, or closely related field plus: (1) at least three years
of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training
in archeological research, administration or management with at least
one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in
the study of archeolo¬gical resources of the historic period; (2) at
least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general
North American archeology; and; (3) demonstrated ability to carry
research to completion. There is no substitution for the degree.
