Hourly pay rate: $30 + an hourly health and welfare benefit of $3.71 

Holiday pay: 10 federal holidays per year

Vacation: after 1 year contractors will start to accrue vacation (2
weeks/year)

APPROXIMATELY 10% TRAVEL TO FIELD LOCATIONS REQUIRED

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking an Archaeologist Cultural Resource
Specialist for a long-term opportunity with Our Client in Portland, OR. 

Position Overview: 

The Cultural Resource Specialist will be working with Project
Environmental Leads for Transmission System Operations, as well as Fish
and Wildlife Conservation projects. The primary purpose of this position
is to provide professional knowledge in the inventory, evaluation,
protection and management of prehistoric and historic resources. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Archaeologist Cultural Resource Specialist: 

*	Independently conducts background research and field inventories
(including subsurface testing), and generates reports that meet the
expectations of various State Historic Preservation offices, Tribal
Historic Preservations offices and other consulting parties. 
*	Balances and prioritizes numerous projects simultaneously. 
*	Evaluates Cultural Resources for eligibility to be included in
the National Register of Historic Places, in accordance with regulations
implementing the National Historic Preservations Act; this includes
development of documents for consultation with State and Tribal Historic
Preservation Offices and other interested parties. 
*	Participates as a team member in preparing NEPA (National
Environmental Policy Act) documents (i.e. drafting or reviewing relevant
reports and sections of NEPA documents), as well as identifying special
Cultural Resource considerations and potential impact. 
*	Prepares and reviews Cultural Resource Management's project
plans, recommending specific actions needed for long-term Cultural
Resource protection, including priorities, costs and schedules. 
*	Provides expertise on compliance with Federal Cultural Resources
laws, their associated regulations, and utility and federal policies and
guidelines, including Department of Energy (DOE) tribal policies and
guidance. 
*	Advises on compliance with relevant statutes, including the
National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Native American Graves
Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Archaeological Resources
Protection Act (ARPA), the American Indian Religious Freedom Act (AIRFA)
and NEPA. 
*	Fulfills other comparable duties as may be assigned. 

This is an estimated one-year PLUS contingent/temporary position through
Volt Workforce Solutions located in Portland, OR. VWS is a member of the

Requirements:

Required Skills for this Archaeologist Cultural Resource Specialist
position include the following: 

*	Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology,
and/or a closely related field 
*	Five (5) years of more of full-time professional experience or
equivalent specialized training in Archaeological Research,
Administration or Management 
*	At least six (6) months of supervised Field and Analytic
experience in Columbia River Basin Archaeology 

	*	A professional in Prehistoric Archaeology must have at
least one (1) year of full-time professional experience in the study of
Archaeological resources of the Prehistoric period 
	*	A professional in Historic Archaeology must have at
least one (1) year of full-time professional experience in the study of
Archaeological resources of the Historic period 

*	Demonstrated experience with and/or knowledge of Section 106 of
the National Historic Preservation Act and implementing regulations 
*	Proven experience and/or familiarity with evaluating Cultural
Resource effects of Fish and Wildlife Conservation projects (e.g.
Habitat Enhancement and Restoration activities and Irrigation Screening)
desired, but not required 
*	Proven knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act
(NHPA) required 
*	Must have familiarity with the Native American Graves Protection
and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), as well as American Indian Religious
Freedom Act (AIRFA) and NEPA 
*	Demonstrated knowledge of the Archaeological Resources
Protection Act (ARPA) required 
*	Knowledge of Transmission System Infrastructure also required 
*	Must possess knowledge of and proficiency in working with MS
Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook 
*	Personal Protection Equipment required 
*	Must possess a valid State Driver's License 
*	Position requires passing a drug screen and criminal background
check 

Soft Skills/Experience/Knowledge: 

*	Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion 
*	Exceptional writing skills required 
*	Must have the ability to transmit information effectively, as
well as to present and describe issues clearly and concisely 
*	Must be able to pay close attention to detail, as well as
interface and communicate with various professional personnel and
management, and maintain good client relations
