[OR_Archaeology] TAC Festival 2013 starts in just 8 days!

To our Oregon friends and patrons: Just eight days remain before the tenth  
annual edition of The Archaeology Channel  International Film and Video 
Festival, which will take place in the Recital Hall  at The Shedd in downtown 
Eugene during May 7-11, 2013.  Here is a summary  of what’s happening.  

* 18 of the world’s best films compete for prizes in the Recital Hall at  
The Shedd in downtown Eugene.  See the Festival page at

* Dr. Tom Dillehay, whose work at the Monte Verde Site in Chile demolished  
the long-held Clovis-first model for the peopling of the Americas, will 
speak on  "Entangled Knowledge and the Quest for New Models on the Peopling of 
the  Americas," Friday night, May 10.
 
*Dr. Dillehay and other leading First Americans researchers will take part  
in a public panel discussion at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural 
and  Cultural History on Wednesday, May 8, at 3 pm.
 
* A full ticket package for the films and the Keynote is $70.  You can  
reserve tickets now by contacting The Shedd prior to the event in person or by  
phone (541-434-7000).  The Shedd Ticket Office is located at 868 High  
Street and is open M-F 9 am-6 pm and Saturday 9 am-12 pm..  The seating  
capacity of the Recital Hall is 200.
 
* TAC Conference on Cultural Heritage Film takes place 10 am - 5 pm, May  
8-10, in the Univ. of Oregon Baker Downtown Center, including presentations 
by  film-makers and others from around the world.  It’s free!
 
* Our Video Bar, also at the Baker Downtown Center 10 am - 5 pm, May 8-10,  
and also free, offers the opportunity to view Festival films on individual  
viewing stations.
 
* Willamette National Forest tours will take place during the day on  
Thursday (to the Oregon Central Military Wagon Road) and Friday (to Cascadia  
Cave).  These are free activities and donations are encouraged.
 
* Our Awards Reception, where the envelopes will be opened and the winners  
announced, will take place Saturday, May 11, from 6:30 to 9 pm at DIVA (280 
W.  Broadway)
