The Pacific Slope Archaeological Laboratory (PSAL—say “Saul”) at Oregon
State University is now offering a range of technical services to the
archaeological community. These services bring the technical expertise
of PSAL researchers to assist field- and laboratory-based archaeology
projects.

Field Services
•Geoprobe direct-push coring to build stratigraphic models of
landforms, reconstruct paleolandscapes and develop archaeological site
predictive models
•Three-dimensional scanning of stratigraphic profiles and cultural
features—the ultimate in digital recordation of a site throughout the
excavation process
•Construction of high-resolution Gigapixel images of stratigraphic
profiles and other archaeological imagery
•Portable x-ray (PXRF) fluorescence analysis of site stratigraphy

Laboratory Services
•Three-dimensional scanning of artifacts for reports, online displays,
public presentations and physical reproductions
•Three-dimensional printing of artifact replicas for hands-on learning,
outreach and education
•Analysis and interpretation of 3D digital artifact models to enable
advanced morphometric comparisons and correlations of technologies
•Characterization of site sediments to support your stratigraphic
descriptions
•Geochemical analysis of artifacts via PXRF to enable provenance
correlations, refitting, and deconstruction of manufacturing processes
