[OR_Archaeology] PSU Archaeology Roadshow

Portland State University's Department of Anthropology and community partners are gearing up for the 2014 Archaeology Roadshow set for Sunday, June 1st  at OMSI.  Like last year, this year's event  will feature exhibits and demonstrations created by students and community partners; and we'll host a panel of experts who will try to identify treasures the public brings in.  We've created a timeline that  features artifacts from some of Oregon's iconic sites (with help from the Museum of Cultural and Natural History at UO and Ft. Vancouver).  Members of OPB's Time Team America will be on-hand to show video clips from the upcoming new season and give a behind the scenes tour of the program.   It should be an outstanding day; please come and bring your friends and neighbors!


WHEN:   Sunday,  June 1st from 11 am to 3 pm



WHERE: OMSI auditorium 1945 SW Water Ave. Portland OR, 97241 (free: museum admission not included).

WHAT:  A celebration of archaeology put on by PSU faculty and students, tribes, government agencies and companies who want to share their passion for archaeology with the public.

- hands-on archaeology for kids of all ages
- exhibits about local archaeology and history projects
- tool-making demonstrations
- a panel of experts to identify your personal artifacts

Experts in local archaeology, paleontology and geology will attempt to identify your artifacts. Stone, bone, woven, plant, or historical items are welcome.  Please do not bring any live plant or animal. No appraisals will be given. The Archaeology Roadshow does not authenticate or value items for sale.
