Hiring Immediately: Full Time Lead Archaeologist / Field Director
Nearest Major City: Bellingham, Washington

The open Archaeologist position is for a qualified individual who will assist the Principal Investigator in all aspects of conducting cultural resource management contracting. Normal tasks would include, but not necessarily be limited to: research, supervision of fieldwork, working alone and without supervision, artifact / data analysis, monitoring and preparation of technical reports and documents. Duties will include conducting and compiling background research, surveying and testing sites, data recovery, construction monitoring, technical writing and report preparation as well as other tasks assigned as needed. This position requires excellent field skills, artifact identification and analyses, keeping organized field notes and records, and the ability to write key sections of reports such as methods, results and analyses.

Skills and Experience Needed

Master's degree in Archaeology OR an MA in Anthropology or History with an appropriate level of experience working as an archaeologist (Required).
A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in archaeological conducting surveys and reconnaissance with supervisory experience (Required).
Knowledge and experience working with Northwest coastal shell matrix sites and cultural resources (Preferred).
A working knowledge of NEPA, SEPA and other state and federal environmental regulations. (i.e. Washington Governor's Executive Order 0505, section 106) (Preferred).
Ability to competently utilize of field equipment and tools (e.g. GPS, drills, saws, screens, shovels, 4-wheel drive vehicles, etc) (Required).
Ability to think critically and work independently (Required).
Ability to organize and manage a field team (Required).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Required).
A history of working with private, public sector clients and large regulatory agencies (Preferred).
Strong organization skills with the ability to transition quickly between projects (Required).
Ability to manage work time efficiently while staying within a budget (Required).
A valid driver's license (Required).
The ability to legally pass through the international border with Canada (Required).
Considerations
Compensation is negotiable and dependent on experience.
