Hello Oregon Archaeologists, Interpreters, Heritage Preservation Specialists, etc:

The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) Public Education Committee Facebook State/Province Tour will be featuring Oregon during the week of August 3-8 (see the facebook page: Society for American Archaeology PEC Network of State Coordinators to see examples of what they've been doing).

They are looking for input from us so they can highlight what's happening in our state. Do you or your colleagues have suggestions for weblinks that address the themes below for each day that week?

They are looking for one or two per day that pertain to the theme with a very short sentence about the link, so it's not a huge amount of stuff they're looking for.

Monday: #NoteworthyPubArch - Did a particular event or program go well? Is there a good website or blog for it? Is there a particular person who is just rocking archaeology outreach in Oregon?

Tuesday: #PubArchInTheNews - Are there news articles from the past year we should feature?

Wednesday: #PubArchEvents - Do you have upcoming events we can help promote? A one-time event, a lecture series, a summer program...

Thursday: #PubArchPress - Has anyone published anything (academic or other research) recently that highlights archaeology in Oregon? Or any good blogs, print or electronic resources you'd recommend to help others improve their public archaeology and outreach?

Friday: #PubArchFF - It's "Follow Friday." What FB pages/groups would you like to promote to our followers? Also Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, etc.

#PubArchConvos - Are there any questions you'd like to ask to engage our followers? Peer-to-peer

This is a great opportunity to get public archaeology in Oregon on the map, so to speak. I will coordinate compiling and sending the information back to the project coordinator, so please send any and everything you can think of to share to Virginia Parks at virginia_parks at fws.gov<mailto:virginia_parks at fws.gov> by the end of the day on Wednesday, July 29. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Virginia
