Was at a Willamette lecture the other night about the Cardiff project (http://caerheritageproject.com/)
One thing they do that seemed like a good ides is to have graduate students working at the site go out into the retirement community with sample artifacts and give short talks.
Why not involve field students in community service as a class project... part of the grade.
Given that archaeology is under threat by some in the conservative community... would be nice to encourage interest and possible support in the older set. Given current stats... the over 50 group will dominate the social and political future.
